MAY 8, 2001 MINUTES
The meeting was held at the home of Dave and Sue Rankin. The meeting was called to
order by the president, Larry Everett, at 7:00 p.m.
There were 17 members present.
There was no Secretary's report as the minutes were mailed to each member.
The Treasurer's report lists a current balance of $203.34, after payment of $1000 for the
showcase, and receipt of $5.00 in dues.
OLD BUSINESS:
The Christmas party will be held on December 8, and the picnic on August 4. Both events
will be at the home of Phyllis Smith. The picnic will begin at 4:00 p.m. with dinner at
6:00.
NEW BUSINESS:
Diane Gary read a letter of thanks from the National Cambridge Collectors for the
sponsorship of a showcase for the museum.
There was a reminder that the May issue of the "Crystal Ball" contains the
convention registration form, and ballots for the election of members to the Board of
Directors.
Fred Schaefer reported that he has spoken with the Assistant Curator at the Dayton Art
Institute. At the present time, there are no plans for a 2003 bicentennial celebration of
Ohio Statehood. There is a display planned for the centennial of 100 years of flight. The
curator indicated that our interest in a glass display would be raised at the DAI staff
meeting. The curator will speak again with Fred after a decision is made.
It was suggested that a possible location for a display would be the Boonshoft Museum of
Discovery. Dave Rankin will pursue.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
